OKCPS Foundation Celebrates 10 Years of the Teacher Pipeline Program

August 5th, 2025

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) Foundation celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Teacher Pipeline Program (TPP), a groundbreaking initiative designed to address Oklahoma’s teacher shortage while investing in the future of Oklahoma City Public Schools.

The OKCPS Foundation’s Teacher Pipeline Program is continuing its mission to build sustainable solutions for Oklahoma’s teacher shortage with over 30 graduates teaching across OKCPS. This fall, nearly 100 TPP participants will be working in classrooms across Oklahoma City Public Schools as they continue their journey toward becoming certified teachers. The program provides paraprofessionals with the opportunity to obtain a fully funded degree, personalized 1:1 support, and the opportunity to remain employed with OKCPS while pursuing their education.

Through strategic partnerships with Oklahoma City Public Schools, the University of Central Oklahoma, OSU-OKC, and Oklahoma City Community College, OKCPS Foundation has built a strong pathway for aspiring educators to grow within their own community.

“The Teacher Pipeline Program is about more than filling the ongoing shortage we are facing today —it’s about cultivating homegrown educators who reflect and understand the students they serve,” said Kendra Horn, President and CEO of Oklahoma City Public Schools. “As we kick off our tenth year of success, we are thrilled to see the positive impact these future teachers are already making in classrooms.”

By reducing financial barriers and providing intentional support, the TPP has transformed the way Oklahoma City invests in its educators. The Foundation looks forward to the next decade of preparing passionate, diverse, and dedicated teachers who will shape the future of OKCPS.
