OKCPS Foundation Brings Books, Prizes, and Fun to Back-to-School Bash

August 2025

Oklahoma City, OK — The Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) Foundation kicked off the new school year at this year’s OKCPS’ Back-to-School Bashes, bringing together students, families and the OKCPS community for a day full of books, prizes, and fun.

With hundreds of families attending the event, students received free books to help them start the year with fresh stories in hand. The OKCPS Foundation also shared resources with parents and students, highlighting the importance of reading and how families can stay engaged in their child’s education throughout the school year.

“Strong schools build strong communities,” said Kendra Horn, President & CEO of the OKCPS Foundation. “Events like the Back-to-School Bashes not only celebrate the start of school, but also highlight how our community can come together to give every OKCPS student the tools they need to thrive.”

The OKCPS Foundation serves as a champion for Oklahoma City Public Schools by providing resources, programs, and advocacy that directly benefit students and teachers. From supporting innovative classroom initiatives to strengthening the teacher pipeline, the Foundation works every day to remove barriers to learning and open doors of opportunity. Community members are invited to join these efforts by volunteering their time, lending their expertise, or supporting Foundation events and programs that uplift OKCPS students. Together, we can create a stronger future for every child in Oklahoma City.
