INTEGRIS Health Minority Student Scholarship Application

Deadline: The application period for 2009-2010 has closed.
The next application period will be for students graduating in 2010-2011.

INTEGRIS HealthINTEGRIS Health is the state's largest Oklahoma-owned and governed health system with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, physician clinics, mental health facilities, independent living centers, hospice services and home health agencies throughout much of the state. INTEGRIS Health's mission is, "To improve the health of the people and the communities we serve."

Effective July 1, 1994, INTEGRIS Health was formed as a statewide healthcare delivery system composed of INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center, and 13 hospitals operating under INTEGRIS Rural Health. INTEGRIS Health as a system has a total of 15 hospitals including two acute care facilities in metropolitan Oklahoma City, nine (9) rural hospitals, one comprehensive rehabilitation facility, 2 behavioral health facilities, and one (1) new hospital soon to be under construction in Edmond. Nine of these hospitals are owned by INTEGRIS and the remaining are leased and operated by INTEGRIS. Stanley F. Hupfeld joined the organization in 1987 and serves as President and CEO of the entire system.

INTEGRIS Health is a 501-c-3, not-for-profit organization operating approximately 1600 beds across the state with 900 physicians and approximately 10,000 employees. For Fiscal Year 2008, INTEGRIS had net system revenues of over $1 Billion dollars, an operating margin of 4.6%, total system assets of $1.5 Billion dollars, and 274 days’ cash on hand. The organization is committed to ongoing fiscal strength in order to fund its aggressive capital needs for up-to-date hospitals and technology throughout the state.

One of the more unique features of INTEGRIS is the commitment of the Board of Directors and CEO Stanley F. Hupfeld to "community returnship." The organization fosters a tithing philosophy, believing that health goes beyond the walls of its hospitals to such basic elements as having enough food to eat and clothes to wear to school. The Community Returnship programs provide such services as free medical clinics in underserved neighborhoods, free vaccinations, flu shots and health screenings, mentoring programs for at-risk schools in the Oklahoma City School System, and a gang intervention program, to mention just a few. Perhaps the most visible of the INTEGRIS programs is the INTEGRIS Western Village Charter School. Several years ago, Stan Hupfeld approached the board about taking over this lowest performing elementary school in a northeast, at-risk neighborhood. That request quickly gained approval and full support from the Board of Directors. Hupfeld and several other board members personally serve as mentors at the school, which features an integrated arts curriculum with music, dance, computer labs, playgrounds for recess, a running track, and most recently a gymnasium. Through the efforts of INTEGRIS, each student has a mentor, and test scores have improved each year.

This description gives a brief glimpse into the dedication and commitment of INTEGRIS and its leadership to children and youth who are in needy circumstances, as well as to the provision of clinical services, services for our senior citizens and to ongoing information and education.
