Horace Mann Hornets Launch the Blue and Gold; MAPS for Kids Kicks Off Another Renovation

Gold and blue balloons tied to the hands Horace Mann Elementary School children could be seen by all passersby on Western Avenue Wednesday, Oct. 3. Students and teachers launched their balloons in celebration of the MAPS for Kids Kick-off to renovations for their school.

Horace MannSchool staff, students, parents and community leaders were on hand to commemorate the $1.7 million project for the Hornets, and Mayor Mick Cornett was in attendance to announce that Oklahoma City had been selected as one of the most livable cities in the United States in 2007 by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The project renovation to the pre-kindergarten-sixth grade school will add more than 7,000 square feet of instructional space including a classroom addition and renovation of the core facilities. Upon completion Horace Mann Elementary will accommodate 288 students.
