Call for Auditions:
Stars of Education 2009

Douglass High School
We are currently recruiting for fine arts students & ensembles
to participate in the 2009 Stars of Education celebration.
- Seeking 1 (one) opening performance and 3 (three) program performances
- Length of each piece performed must be less than 4 minutes – including stage entrance & exit
- Performance must be appropriate for television broadcast (slower paced performances generally do not work well for a television audience, make sure song lyrics & movements are television appropriate). Vocal groups should not sing with pre-recorded vocal tracks unless the recorded
vocals are accompaniment (we want to hear YOUR kids' voices).
- Audition must be on VHS or DVD with visual – NO audiotapes/CDs will be accepted
- Audition must be an accurate representation of what will be performed at the event
- Stage dimensions are 32’ x 20’ (24 inches high)
- Transportation costs to rehearsal and event will be reimbursed by the Foundation
- Students will be provided a boxed meal on the evening of event
- A panel of business representatives will review audition VHS or DVD
TIMELINE
- December 3, 2008 — Applications & Audition VHS or DVD deadline
- December 5, 2008 — Selection Committee will meet *You will be notified the week of December 8 with the results*
- March 11, 2009 — Rehearsals (Douglass High School – AM)
- March 12, 2009 — Stars of Education (Douglass High School 5:30 – 7:30 PM)
HOW TO APPLY
Deadline: December 3, 2008
- Apply online.
- The application must be completed in one session. The information you will need to complete the application:
- Name of person or group performing,
- # of participants,
- school name,
- teacher name and contact info,
- name of piece being performed,
- composer/arranger if known,
- length of piece,
- any special requirements (mics, risers, piano, cd player etc….)
DVD/VHS TAPE SUBMISSION
Deadline: December 3, 2008
- Hand deliver your submission to the Foundation Office
- Send your submission through school mail to the Foundation Office
