Feedback Sought as Renovated MAPS for Kids School
Prepares for Design and Construction Phase
Oklahoma City – With preliminary design plans underway, the elementary school renovation at the Hoover site, currently serving as Eisenhower Elementary, is moving forward with its MAPS for Kids project. Parents, students, teachers and the public are encouraged to provide feedback at a community meeting on Tuesday, June 17, at 6 p.m. in Eisenhower Elementary School’s cafeteria, 2401 NW 115 Terrace.
The renovation of the Hoover site, currently serving as Eisenhower Elementary, will include the conversion to a pre-kindergarten through sixth grade facility with an expansion of the site’s core facilities. The project has an estimated construction budget of $4 million. Representatives from the project architects, Renaissance Architects, will present the preliminary design plan with the new floor plan and alternates as well as the construction schedules. Those who attend will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input into the planning process at the June 17 meeting.
With the passage of the MAPS for Kids initiative in November 2001 came approximately $700 million in funding from sales taxes and bond funds necessary for capital improvements in Oklahoma City’s 24 public school districts. Approximately $530 million of those monies are designated for Oklahoma City Public Schools. Under the MAPS for Kids plan, four community meetings will be held for each school that will be rebuilt and fully renovated.
If you need a sign language interpreter, a language interpreter or have a disability requiring assistance at the meeting, please call 879-2007, by June 13.
