The Competitive Edge Grants program (formerly Student InCENTives) provides grants of up to $1,000.00 for Oklahoma City Public Schools students to attend academic and artistic competitions.  The Competitive Edge program is funded by employee contributions through the TEAM (Together Employees Add More) Campaign and The Foundation's other generous donors.

Policies and Procedures:
  1. Funds are available up to $1,000.00 per event, not to exceed the total cost of the event.

  2. OKCPS teachers who serve as sponsors for students at competitions must apply on behalf of their student(s).

  3. Grant money may be used for the following expenses: travel/transportation, meals, lodging and competition fees. Grant money may not be used for expenses related to competition preparation (for example: tap shoes, sheet music, t-shirts, practice materials, etc.). Grant money may not be used for field trips, performances, conferences, meetings or activities outside of artistic or academic competitions.

  4. Funds for qualified applications are available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted.

      1. Please complete a separate application for each individual event.  Applications for multiple events in one request cannot be funded.

      2. No more than $4,000.00 per school year will be awarded to any individual group/organization.  For example, the band and academic team can EACH access up to a maximum of $4,000.00 (even if the sponsor/teacher/school is the same) but the band itself will not be granted more than a maximum of $4,000.00 within a school year.  Teachers may submit requests for more than the maximum and those requests will be placed on the wait list.  Should additional funding become available, requests above the maximum will be considered.

      3. Requests for first and second round competitions are accepted, however, requests for second round competitions will only be considered AFTER the first round competition has taken place.

  5. Applications are due to the Foundation no less than 30 days prior* to the deadline of the event for which funds are requested.  If approved, the Foundation will disburse checks within two weeks of the application to the activity account of the requesting school.

*We are aware that occasions may arise where students are notified less than 30 days in advance that they have qualified for the next round of a competition. Requests for funds for second round competitions may be submitted less than 30 days in advance. Please call The Foundation, (405) 879-2007, to discuss any other special circumstances.

  6. Grant recipients must complete an evaluation within 30 days after the event (or may be disqualified from receiving further grants). Teacher Evaluation Form are available online at www.okckids.com.  Applications may be submitted through the Foundation website form only.
